
Biographical Sketch of Kathryn
Stewart
Kathryn Stewart is a founding
partner in Safety and Policy Analysis, International. She
currently serves as the Director of Dissemination for the
Prevention Research Center in Berkeley, California. Until
recently, she was a Senior Research Scientist at the Pacific
Institute for Research and Evaluation and the Deputy
Director of the Underage Drinking Enforcement Training
Center.
Ms. Stewart has broad
experience in research and evaluation related to the
prevention of problems related to substance use, with a
special emphasis on impaired driving and alcohol policy. She
recently completed a project for the National Highway
Traffic Safety Administration comparing impaired driving
laws and statistics worldwide. Her particular specialty has
been the development of documents that show how research
findings can be used by States and communities to reduce
impaired driving and other substance-related problems.
Previously, she has carried out evaluations of
administrative license revocation, impaired driver treatment
programs, and various strategies to prevent impaired driving
among the general population.
Ms. Stewart is widely
published and a frequent presenter and keynote speaker at
conferences in the United States and internationally. She is
the current Chair of the National Academy of Sciences
Committee on Alcohol, Other Drugs and Transportation of the
Transportation Research Board and co-edits The Reporter, the
newsletter of the International Council on Drugs, Alcohol,
and Traffic Safety. She serves on the National Board of
Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
